Well, it's official. I am now a League Certified Instructor for the League of American Bicyclists. I'm now stuck in a quandry. I find myself being a member of the local MPO trails committee. That got me into the Utah Bicycle Coalition where I will soon be a member of the board. And because of the UBC, I am now an LCI working for the Salt Lake City Bike Collective. The quandry comes from the fact that I am what is often called a "Vehicular Cyclist", which is where the League emphasis lies, and I also promote things like trails and bike lanes which I don't even like very much. Some how I need to resolve this conflict within myself.

As to the LCI gig, I get to talk to people about bikes and being safe, and I get paid for it. That is pretty cool. There were eleven LCI's who graduated this past weekend and we are starting to teach classes in July. My first is July 8th and the class is already full. This could be a very busy summer. I wonder if this means that I should stop taking that shortcut down the sidewalk and across the grass?
